On May 12, 2011, I received a life saving pancreas transplant. There is so much to tell, but as of today, September 2, 2011, I am doing fantastic. You can catch up on all the shananigans and joys on my blog at: http://www.cindyscinto.blogspot.com Search for Chicago and you will disover all the posts and stories. 8^)

So now I need a pancreas transplant: after all these years of toxic medications that keep me alive, thier caustic properties have added to insulin resistance so my blood sugar levels are even harder to control. A pancreas transplant is the only option and although most centers I applied to turned me down, a doctor in Chicago has agreed to let me get listed at the University of Illinois. I will fly out there on April 12th and return home on Friday, April 15th. Once approved, I will get the call any day for a pancreas donor due to my listing already on hold in Minneapolis as of November 10, 2010. (deceased, sad to consider)
But the pancreas is a mushy kind of gland so there may be false alarms once I arrive in Chicago sending me back home the next day. It woud be too expensive for John to fly with me which means if I get there and it's a go--he will have to find a flight and not be there for the actual surgery. That's tough.
Then, recovery after a pancreas transplant is more difficult than a heart transplant. I will likely be in the hospital for two weeks and have to stay in Chicago for a month.
Flights, hotels, meals, expenses... Keep us in prayer as we embark on yet another adventure. I am confident in the Lord's provision in all ways. We will survive! 8^)

WOW! For the first time in eight and a half years--I feel GREAT! It is so good to be healthy. I am ready for what the Lord has placed before me and look forward to traveling and sharing the HOPE of His love and care for each one.

It was a crazy couple of months for me. Ended up that my health slowly declined and I became very fatigued and weak. There were many things that could have contributed to feeling bad, but it was hard for the docs to figure out. At my very end, I cried for the Lord to heal me this past Sunday at church. He did. Read about it on my blog at: http://cindyscinto.blogspot.com. It is a bit sassy though. 8^)

Think I am trying to get a cold. Never got sick last winter. There is a lot of smoke in the air from fires burning in British Colombia. Took some vitamin C. Can't take too much or my immune system will wake up and reject my heart.

I will be posting updates to my health here so people can check and know if I need prayer, am available, or not available. Currently, I am doing pretty well. Could use some prayer for severe chemical allergies that make life difficult. I am having a hard time with some fatigue. Trying to exercise each day. Exercise helps a lot of things when you are not sick and a lot more when you are!
